Pneumology is the medical specialty dedicated to respiratory diseases and, therefore, lung disorders.
Specifically, pneumology can address the lungs, bronchi, and pleura (which constitutes the “envelope” of the lungs). Pneumology is clinical and interventional (Bronchoscopy, etc.).

Relevant Pathologies:
  • Respiratory failure
  • Pneumoconioses (diffuse conditions due to prolonged inhalation of dust in the atmosphere))
  • Infectious (lung abscess, bronchopneumonia, tuberculosis) or tumoral conditions
  • Bronchial cancer
  • Conditions related to smoking, such as chronic bronchitis or emphysema
  • Asthma
  • Certain allergies
  • Complications related to exposure to toxins, cystic fibrosis, etc.

Pneumology addresses both tumoral (cancers) and non-tumoral pathologies.
