Medically Assisted Procreation (MAP) or Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) refers to a set of techniques that reproduce in the laboratory some of the natural processes of fertilization and early embryonic development. These techniques are used to address medically diagnosed infertility or prevent the transmission of certain serious diseases. Depending on the identified causes of infertility, different MAP techniques are proposed to the couple: ovarian stimulation, intrauterine insemination with partner sperm (IUI), in vitro fertilization (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).
Procedures:
- IUI: Intrauterine Insemination with partner sperm
- Follicular puncture
- IVF: In Vitro Fertilization
- ICSI: Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection
- IMSI: Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection with morphological selection at a magnification of X6000
- Transfer of fresh or frozen embryos
Fertility preservation techniques:
- Freezing of gametes: Sperm and Eggs
- Embryo freezing
- Sperm freezing
- Ovarian tissue freezing
- Testicular biopsy with freezing
